Do you think you know all 101 plays the Poker Pros use to win a poker tournament?
After reviewing the tournament poker strategies the Pros use, here are 5 plays you probably don’t know:
1. The Naked Ace Bluff
The naked ace bluff is a play that allows you to win on the turn or the river because you are holding an Ace. Not any Ace but the one that is suited so you could hold a flush. This play is a bluff, but an effective one and one that you should include in your tournament poker strategy.
2. What does a Yellow Light Mean?
Slow Down. Ever lose a big pot with a premium hand like pocket Aces or pocket Kings? Sure, we all have. But, there is a way to know when you see a yellow light and slow down. Pocket Aces is the best hand…Pre-Flop! The game changes when the flop hits the board. You need to know when you see a yellow light and slow down.
3. Overplaying Heads-Up
You made it to the final two players in your tournament. Do you know how to play heads-up? One mistake that is too common is when a player gets a strong hand and raises out of position. Position is important heads-up. You need to know how to play heads-up if you expect to win any event.
4. The A-K Made Simple
Big Slick. Some players always push, some players are too careful with this hand. There is an easier way to play A-K. It is the right way if you want to win tournaments. Being aggressive is smart poker in general. But, sorry, always moving all-in with A-K is the wrong tournament poker strategy.
5. The “No Look” Blind Steal
What is the worse thing that can happen to you in a poker tournament? A bad beat is always the worst outcome, but next has to be going card dead. When you go card dead, you fold hand after hand. This is not good. But, you can take advantage of this situation in the right position in the right situation. It’s about not even worrying about your cards, so why look. Use the “No Look” blind steal to accumulate chips before you bleed out chips any more.

would you please explain the AK as to why not to go all in? the odds are in favor, even if u got an opponent with 88 or a lower pair…
My philosophy is to either move all-in or fold with AK.
An example of when you want to fold is when one player raises, another player re-raises. You know that the re-raiser is a tight player and would only re-raise with AA or KK. So you are not the favorite.
Oh by the way, the odds are NOT in your favor if your opponent has any pocket pair against your A-K.
