Everyday, more and more new people register at online casinos, creating an increasingly diversified population of players. Previously, gambling – both online and in land-based casinos – was considered a male-dominated activity. Now, however, a newer, more feminine populace is taking over: stay-at-home moms.

The newest leisurely trend in this community has seen more and more stay-at-home moms logging on to online gambling websites. According to recent polls, 80% of moms go online at least once a day to read news, go shopping and play online casino games like progressive slots. 25% admitted to spending at least 2 hours or more gambling online a week.

This phenomenon is believed to have been triggered by social media websites like Facebook, which have encouraged more women from all over the world to start exploring all of the activities that the internet has to offer.

Previously, popular leisure activities for stay-at-home moms included reading, watching daytime television and taking part in other solitary activities. Online gambling, like social networking websites, gives them the chance to interact with other players, rather than simply being a passive audience when reading.

Convenience also plays a big role in the popularity of online gambling. Because stay-at-home moms must supervise their children at all times, they must find in-home entertainment, and online casinos present the perfect opportunity to fit some excitement into their day without requiring them to leave home.
