Roulette is a game that attracts all kinds of players. In land-based casinos you’ll see lots of people hovering over the table and placing multiple bets. But did you ever wonder if these players were using some sort of strategy or randomly just placing bets based on their gut instinct? Well, there are in fact several different roulette strategies one can use to play and while they can never guarantee a win they are very interesting and fun to try out! The most popular betting strategy in Roulette is the Martingale betting system while other good ones to try include the Labouchere and D’Alembert Systems.

The Martingale system is a progression betting system where a player doubles a bet after each loss. You keep doubling your bet until you win and then return to your original bet amount. Using the Martingale system means that you are essentially making up a previous loss with each subsequent bet you make.

The Labouchere system is another progression betting system where you take a series of numbers in a line to help you decide your bet. First the player decides how much money to bet, let’s say 10 as an example. You would then think of a sequence of numbers that adds up to 10, we’ll use 1, 3, 2, and 4. Add the first and last digits together and you get 5, this is your first bet. If you win you cancel the two numbers out and add the remaining two left over. If you lost you would add the 5 to the end of your sequence and begin again (adding 1 and 5 in this case). Your goal with this strategy is to eliminate all the numbers in your sequence.

There is also the D’Alembert system. This is a bit of a safer strategy to play because it isn’t as drastic in increasing bets as the Martingale. After each loss the D’Alembert system dictates you should increase your bet by one unit and after each win decrease your bet by one as well. So for example let’s say your initial bet was $5. If you lost you would bet $6 on the next round, if you won you would only bet $4. The D’Alembert system is great to use if you want to sit at a table for a longer period of time, but keep in mind, it means you don’t win or lose quickly either.
